A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon, is one of my all time favorites! I also love books by Kevin Henkes.

I have always loved books and reading! Since becoming a teacher, I have read hundreds of incredible books. I wanted to be apart of making magic happen for young kids, through words and illustrations.

I have many merories from my childhood that I use to create stories. Almost everything I want to write about has happened in my life.

When I was in third grade, I went to a school where no one looked like me (except for my sister). I know exactly what it feels like to move to a new place and not fit in. I wanted to share my story with other children, so that they know it happens, and it's okay. Just be yourself!

I chose to make the characters different colors because this way, the book is relatable to everyone, no matter what color your skin is!
